Is it normal for my GSD's undercoat not to grow back after puppies?

It's normal for puppies this age to have a thinner coat than an adult dog - most German shepherds do not have a thick, full adult coat until 2 years of age or older. If there are any bald patches where she has lost hair, or if she is itching excessively, these can be signs of a skin condition such as allergies or mange - in that case, I would recommend having Roxy examined by a vet. He/she can do some simple skin tests if needed to help determine the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Hair falling out can be pathological if it is related to an infection or fleas. It can also be due to normal shedding, which German Shepherds tend to have a thick under coat and the hair often falls out in clumps. I recommend to check the skin for redness, scaling, excessively dry skin, fleas or bleeding. If you see this, then you know it's pathologic. If there are not skin abnormalities, then hopefully it's normal shedding but without being able to see it, its hard to say. Your veterinarian or a groomer would be a good resource to know if this is normal hair loss or not. I hope this helps to point you in the right direction. She may have an endocrine disease, such as hypothyroidism (her thyroid gland isn't working right) or Cushing's disease (her adrenal glands are releasing too much cortisol). A Husky will typically shed or "blow" the undercoat twice a year. The shedding you are seeing is likely normal if you are going through a change of seasons. Brush her daily to prevent matting. There is nothing you can do to make the coat grow faster. A fish oil supplement may promote healthier skin and coat.

This is common in this breed and for this time of year. You can do a weekly bath and daily brushing to help keep it under control. You can add omega 3 fatty acids and fish oils to the food to also help. I would not worry unless there are Bald patches or he is scratching excessively

This is likely a pysiological alopecia, especially if it is in front of both ears and about the same size. If the are a expands, then there is a skin problem that needs to be investigated by your vet. However, if the skin looks healthy, and the area stays the same, then there is nothing to worry about. If Mila tries to scratch the area, then you should have her ears checked by the vet for an infection or mites.

The skin is discolored but doesn't appear unhealthy. it doesn't not look rough or scarred so there is a good chance the hair will grow back. Although sometimes it grows back a different color or texture it will take a few more weeks before you see hair start to fill in.
