German Shepherd's head is purple after scab. Will her hair grow back?

It is a little hard to tell based on these photos, and a closer look in person might make a difference, but this could definitely be a scar. If it is a scar, I'd hate to see what the original injury looked like! Unfortunateely this sometimes happens with a fungal infection. the fungus likely had destroyed the hair roots in which the pigment is that makes the skin and hair growing from it black. There is a chance that during the nexr shed of your dog , it comes in black, but there is also a chance that it will stay white. That is the way fungi can damage skin. There is no medication to remedy that.

It's hard to say. It could be that you are now observing a scab and it could take several weeks to months for the hair to return fully. Keeping an eye on it and making sure Rosie doesn't scratch at it may help. However if the area doesn't appear to be improving, worsens, again, or seems to be infected or bothersome, a vet visit to rule out infections or other issues is best.

This is likely a pysiological alopecia, especially if it is in front of both ears and about the same size. If the are a expands, then there is a skin problem that needs to be investigated by your vet. However, if the skin looks healthy, and the area stays the same, then there is nothing to worry about. If Mila tries to scratch the area, then you should have her ears checked by the vet for an infection or mites.

Dogs can definitely start to have hair that turns white or grey with age, usually around the face and head. I'm not sure about your description of purple/white skin under the hair on his head - this has me a little worried he could have a bruise. If you think his head could look consistent with a bruise, or if the purple areas are raised I would recommend seeing a veterinarian. The fur will eventually regrow. It will not be as soft as the original coat and it may grow in darker. The redness and peeling may indicate infection due to irritation or licking after the clipping. Consider an exam with your veterinarian in case Jasper needs systemic antibiotics and/or topical treatment. Place an e-collar (cone) on him to prevent licking or chewing until the hair has grown in. A fish oil supplement, such as DermCaps or EicosaCaps, can be added to the diet to promote healthy skin and coat. What you are describing sounds like scar tissue, but I would have to see it to be sure. Scars will not grow hair, but tend to get smaller and less visible with time. Puppies will heal better than adult dogs, so the scar should be much less obvious within a couple of months. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to encourage hair growth in this area if it is a scar. It's also possible that the lump is due to a deep infection.
