Why is my double-coated puppy's winter coat not growing thicker?

Roxy is very cute! She is likely some sort of a mixed breed, possibly German Shepherd. She looks like she will have a coat more like a German Shepherd. When she is about four months old, the adult coat will grow in and it may change but I suspect it will have a short more harsh outer coat and a soft undercoat. Some dogs do shed minimally, but Arjun is still young. You will see some shedding when his adult coat starts to come in, and you may see shedding during specific seasons such as spring and summer when it gets warmer.

Yes, this can be normal if it is related to hormones and/or stress. It may or may not be that though. There is no way for me to tell you for sure. I suggest you get her to a vet for an exam as there are many other things that can cause hair not to grow back.

Puppies go through growth spurts just like humans do. They will have times where they look thinner and times when they look heavier. I would not be overly concerned about this. Usually the tail fills out when they are an adult between 12 and 18 months of age.

He looks like a handsome boy! Its hard to appreciate the character of his haircoat based on picture, but it does look full, though he doesn't seem to have a thick undercoat. I see you are in Belize; if you are in a warm climate, he isn't going to get that very thick coat, as that would increase the chances of him overheating. This is common in this breed and for this time of year. You can do a weekly bath and daily brushing to help keep it under control. You can add omega 3 fatty acids and fish oils to the food to also help. I would not worry unless there are Bald patches or he is scratching excessively

She is just too young at the moment but with time if fed a proper complete puppy diet, it will happen as she continues to grow. Not all pup's hair growth is the same which is probably why her coat is not as long as her siblings. If at any point, she develops any itchiness then have her evaluated by your veterinarian to ensure there is not any underlying skin condition. Good luck!
