Why does my dog suddenly lose movement and tremble after waking?

Based on what you are describing, I am concerned that this is seizure activity that Romy is experiencing. When this occurs, I typically recommend a thorough physical exam and some lab work to rule out any underlying causes of seizures. During those episodes you can just make sure Romy is safe (from falling off furniture, down the stairs, or into a pool) and comfort him until the episode has passed. Hi, sorry to hear Andre is not feeling well. This can be a seizure or a syncopal event, where the heart is not performing how it should be. Syncope is more often seen as fainting or loosing all their energy quickly, then they feel normal again. A seizure can look like shaking, with a post ictal event where he may act like he is off balance and unsure of his surroundings. I suggest taking him to a vet to have his heart checked and blood work to see how his organs are functioning. If possible, video the episode so you can show the vet. I wonder if these two events are potentially the post ictal phase of seizures. A grand mal seizure is characterized by loss of consciousness and convulsions, but the active phase can be quite short. There is then a recovery period called the post ictal phase where the dog is disoriented, can act aggressive or clingy, can pant heavily, or have trouble walking. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian especially if Tullamore is still walking abnormally. Low blood sugar, anemia or liver disease can cause similar signs but usually they would be persistent.

Tremors are involuntary, rhythmic and repetitive muscle movements that alternate between contraction and relaxation, usually involving to-and-fro movements (twitching) of one or more body parts. The tremors may be rapid, or they may be slow vibrations, and they can occur in any part of the body. These tremors may be idiopathic (unknown), or caused by genetics, trauma, as a side effect of certain drugs, severe weakness or pain, toxicity, or inflammation. I would monitor Lucien for now. Shaking or muscle tremors, difficulty walking and seizures can be a sign of neurologic disease in the brain. There are many infectious and inflammatory diseases that can cause signs like these. Severe liver disease or low blood sugar could also cause neurologic signs. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian if you have not already had Bobby examined. They can check blood work and may recommend testing for some infectious diseases. Often referral to a neurologist for an MRI and sampling spinal fluid is necessary to get a diagnosis, but there may be some treatments your veterinarian could recommend before more testing.

Alternatively, it is possible that your dog is having a seizure like event. If he is otherwise acting normal and these events are infrequent you could continue to monitor him.
