My German Shepherd still has ticks after shampoo and powder. Help!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Charlie! I recommend the following products for ticks: Nexgard, Bravecto, Simparica or the Seresto Collar. The spot on treatments, bathing and powders do not work well anymore. Hopefully you can get one of the above products from your Vet. The Seresto collars can be found online but I have heard of counterfeit ones being sold on amazon so be careful of online sources. It is best to try to get them from your Vet. I’m unsure what products you have in the U.K., but some of my favorite products are Credelio, Nexgard, Bravecto or Simparica. These are all oral products that will prevent fleas as well as kill the ones on your dog. I hope that helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Leo! Fleas are nasty and can be resistant sadly to holistic remedies as well as most of the topical flea preventatives. I recommend the new oral flea and tick preventatives. I like Nexgard or Simparica which are both monthly or Bravecto which is one pill every 3 months. I also like the Seresto collar which repels the fleas and ticks as well. It also lasts 8 months. The orals listed above will be quicker than the collar. Also be sure to treat all the animals in the house. I hope this helps and I wish Leo a speedy recovery!

I do not recommend any flea or tick shampoos, these are usually not safe products and not as long lasting as more modern preventive treatment for fleas and ticks. here is the list of the best flea products on the market. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tofy! We would need a closer picture of the tick and we would need to see the under side as well to identify the tick. I would recommend the Seresto collar or the oral flea and tick preventatives like Nexgard, Simparica and Bravecto. Vinegar does not kill any species of tick. In my experience the natural products do not work for ticks or fleas and the risk of the diseases they transmit is greater than the use of non-natural products.
