My puppy has fleas, natural remedies aren't working. What's best?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Charlie! I recommend the following products for ticks: Nexgard, Bravecto, Simparica or the Seresto Collar. The spot on treatments, bathing and powders do not work well anymore. Hopefully you can get one of the above products from your Vet. The Seresto collars can be found online but I have heard of counterfeit ones being sold on amazon so be careful of online sources. It is best to try to get them from your Vet. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If you have access to the oral flea and tick preventatives (Nexgard, Simparica or Bravecto) they work the best. Or the Seresto Collar (lasts for 8 months). Otherwise I would use the spot on (advantixx, etc). I hope this helps!

Natural products just don't stand up to pests like fleas and it will leave you very frustrated as a pet owner trying to get rid of them. J would stick with a good quality flea preventative such as Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica or Comfortis. Frontline has largely grown out of favor because it has been ineffective in a lot of pets. The only over the counter product that may work in my opinion is Advantix or Advantage multi. Best of luck with your flea problems and I hope you get some resolve soon.

This will not work well because if the flea life cycle. Your best option is to treat all the pets in the home. Depending on the age and size of the puppies, there are likely product restrictions (aka not safe). Top products for adult dogs are oral products such as Simparica and Nexgard (some can be used on puppies pending age and size). Top products for cats are topicals such as Revolution and Cheristan. There is also an oral product called Comfortis that both dogs and cats can take. You will need to switch all the pets over to a good flea product. Make sure to discuss these products with your veterinarian first. These products are generally safe for all pets but there are some conditions which are contraindicated for the oral products. Cleaning up and treating the house and yard will also help but it will not clear all the fleas. The main control is making sure the pets are on good products. This is what will ultimately stop the infestation. Also remember every female fleas lays about 50 eggs a day and it could take up to 6 months before the eggs hatch. I would recommend bringing Aries to the veterinarian to get medication to help with the itch. For the fleas I would either get Bravecto, SImparica or Nexguard. You can even use a Seresto collar. These flea preventions work great. You need to treat every animal in your home for at least 3 months. You can also get Capstar. Capstar only lasts for 24 hours so you have to do this in addition to flea prevention. This pill kills adult fleas only. For baths (if you wanted to give them) you can use dawn. I would leave dawn on for 10-15 minutes prior to rinsing it off. If by cleaning and vacuuming multiple times a week and all of this does not help you may need an exterminator. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I really like Bravecto and Frontline plus. You can use any of these two as a preventative medicine and to kill fleas. You can also consider using Capstar as well which can help kill a lot of fleas at once. You can use Capstar basically daily to effect so this can be quite effective. Nexgard and Bravecto have oral chews that dogs can eat as treats. Nexgard is monthly whereas Bravecto is every 3 months. Both of these prevent against fleas and ticks. Heartgard is an oral medication that protects against heartworm and other intestinal parasites. There is a Seresto collar that can be worm by dogs to prevent flea and tick infections for up to 8 months. I recommend reaching out to your local vet to see which products they have available.
