Can tick spray be fatal or toxic if my dog licks it off their fur?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

3 stray dogs(6 months)died last week in our road.I've been using tick spray for them since they were 3 months old.The day they died I had sprayed tick spray on them in the morning.Can tick spray be fatal if licked ?every night one one puppy died,they were very well n healthy till midnight 12 and before we woke up they were dead.someone must have poisoned them intentionally,but I am confused abt this spray,I 've used this for more than 2 months,so can these tick sprays be that Fatal. . . .!!??

No, typically tick spray isn't fatal if licked. There is a potential it could have some toxicity, but the dog would have to ingest a large amount. Given that they lived outdoors and were strays, it could be that they got into something toxic outside, could have had a serious disease like parvo or distemper, could have been attacked by another animal, or could have been hit by a car. I'm very sorry they died. If you come across any more strays, I would contact your local RSPCA to come and get them. I hope this helps.

In general, we do not want dogs to lick the ingredients in the topical flea products. Therefore, most products will contain a "bittering agent" which makes the liquid taste bad, so the dogs will not lick it. If they lick a small amount, they may drool a little due to the bad taste, but they will not lick enough to cause a problem. My dog licked topical flea treatment from their coat. Is it safe?
No. Unfortunately the topical product will get on their hair. It’s almost impossible to prevent this. It is best to prevent them from licking it but it shouldn’t hurt them. I would just watch them for any abnormal behaviors. If that product doesn’t seem to be helping much I would consider an oral flea preventative next time. These sometimes work better due to a faster kill time. I hope this helps!

Are tick collars toxic if my dogs lick or chew them during play?
I would recommend staying away from collars if they are playing a lot and they play rough. My concern is that the collars get caught while they are playing. There are great topical and oral medications that can be given and these can be given monthly or certain ones can be given once every 3 months. My puppy ate a spider that was sprayed with bug spray. Is it toxic?
I doubt the spider had enough of the toxin on it for it to be toxic to your puppy. If he was going to show symptoms from this type of toxicity they usually start within one hour of ingestion. If he is showing no symptoms I would not be worried. There is nothing you can do at this point but wait to see if he gets ill. What flea and tick products are dangerous or toxic for dogs?
I occasionally see toxicity issues with some of the over-the-counter topical flea products like Hartz, Sergeant's, etc. - this is more commonly a problem in cats, but can sometimes be an issue with small dogs as well, especially if they've been dosed above their weight range. All of the prescription flea/tick medications currently on the market (Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica, etc.) are quite safe and effective.
