Why is my dog throwing up often but still eating and playing normally?

It sounds as though Samson may have injured himself while playing at the dog park. He could have a sprain or strain of one of his muscles or ligaments in his joints. He may have over done it at the park and become slightly overheated as well. Make sure he has plenty of access to water and a comfortable place to rest for the night. If he continues being lethargic, limping and/or vomiting over the weekend I would recommend taking him to be checked out by your vet on Monday.

I am sorry to hear about Sam. Repeated vomiting is not normal, and I would be concerned there is something else going on here. If Sam is a dog who gets into trash or has a sensitive stomach he may just have a case of gastritis from this, and a period of fasting and reintroduction with a bland diet may help. It's common for puppies and adult dogs to throw-up when they eat something that doesn't agree with their stomach. This can also happen when they exercise just after eating. I wouldn't be concerned unless she vomits three or more times, has any other signs of illness, or you notice blood in the vomit. Otherwise, she should be fine. Give her stomach a rest for four or more hours and only feed a small amount at her next feeding. If she keeps that down, then you can feed her the normal amount of her food. There are too many possibilities to name that cause dogs to vomit. However vomitting that many times in a week is abnormal. I would recommend that you have Sammie see her veterinarian to make sure she is ok. Some common causes of vomitting may be dietary indiscretion (or being fed table food) that can cause gastritis or pancreatitis. Some intestinal parasites may also cause vomiting, GI foreign bodies, food sensitivities are all things to consider. Hope Sammie feels better soon.

Loss of appetite and vomiting can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. Lameness can be due to discomfort possibly due to arthritis or something else. This may be related or perhaps may be unrelated and another issue. Lyme disease is a possibility though this is not very common. I recommend that you have Jakey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do at home for Sam at this point in time except withhold food and rest him. He should see a vet now, he sounds terribly sick. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Severe, persistent vomiting should be assessed by a vet (especially if vomiting water for more than 12-18hours due to a risk of dehydration). It is possible he may have swallowed something while he was roaming which may have caused an obstruction or irritation. Given it happened within hours of coming home it is unlikely to be anything he contracted in the shelter
