My dog threw up seizure medication. Do I need to give another dose?

I would try a bland diet of boiled plain chicken or lean ground turkey and white rice. If she still vomits, then there is likely an underlying cause that should be investigated through your vet. You can still give her her anti-seizure medication without a full meal, but definitely get her seen by your vet if she continues to vomit I hope that Nalah is able to get her medication soon and resolves her upset stomach. Hello. Phenobarbital can be absorbed very quickly, so it possible that some has already entered the bloodstream. If Luna's seizures have been well controlled up to this point, then missing one dose will not be harmful. Just redose at her next normal scheduled time. Hi there. No, if you did not see the pill in the fluid he vomited, you shouldn't need to re-dose the prednisone - it would not have had time to fully dissolve this quickly, so if you didn't see it come up, it should still be in his stomach.

I probably would not give another dose if he spit up the material 45 minutes after receiving the phenobarbitol, especially if you are not sure it was actual vomit. Monitor for additional signs and call your vet if you have any concerns. So sorrry that Harley has lung cancer.

Because he threw up two hours after you gave him the medication, the majority of the medication should have been absorbed. I'd give him his normal dose tomorrow, but if he vomits again after that, give his vet a call. I hope this helps.

If you saw the pills/capsules come up with the vomit, I would recommend redosing immediately. If you didn't actually see the medications and it was more than an hour after administration, wait until the next scheduled time. Good luck with your pup!

I would not recommend residing the medication since it is impossible to know how much he may have absorbed. You may want to ask your vet if injectable medications might be an option, or if there are other anti-nausea medications to try. I’m hoping Charlie makes a full recovery!
