Dog threw up, now restless. What to do for my sick dog tonight?

I am very sorry to hear that Puffy is experiencing these problems, I am sure it is very unsettling for you both. There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, forgein body obstruction, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few hours I would continue to monitor Puffy at home. Rest Puffy's gastrointestinal tract by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. If Puffy does not improve, has nonstop vomiting or diarrhoea, you notice fresh blood, Puffy seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian immediately. Poor Mac. It sounds like he should be seen by a vet since he seems to be miserable and restless. He could have an infection, pancreatitis, obstruction, metabolic/endocrine issue, etc. If you can't take him to a vet, withhold food for the day and then try a small amount of boiled chicken and white rice if the vomiting stops. If the vomiting continues or he seems lethargic, he needs to see a vet for treatment. Your vet can run labwork and take X-rays, if needed, to diagnose and then prescribe medications to help. An anti-vomiting medication and fluids to prevent dehydration may be needed. Hope he feels better soon.

It sounds as Shiloh is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

She is probably shivering because her body is trying to adjust after losing so much food and fluid when she vomited. Try to keep her calm and comfortable for now. You may want to see if she needs to get up and walk outside. If her abnormal behavior continues for more than a few hours you should consider taking her to be examined by the vet. I hope this helps. He could be uncomfortable because he has abdominal pain. If it continues than you should call your vet and give him/her an update. Your vet could prescribe gastric protectants and pain medications to help relieve his discomfort. Hope he feels better soon!

Poor guy. I would be cautious here and take him in to your local vet right away if this has been going on for more than 30 mins-1 hr or if he is lethargic. A number of things could be going on here such as a toxin ingestion, severe stomach upset episodes or an underlying disease such as Addison's disease. Check his gum color immediately and if you notice pale gums then he should be seen right away as well. I do hope that this is just a stomach upset and that he starts to improve over the next hour. If he does seem to calm down, then you should definitely fast him for the next 12 hrs (water only), then you should feed him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken or lean ground turkey and white rice for the next few days to help settle his stomach. Poor guy. With him being this ill and it lasting through the night, the best course of action is to take Shaggy to your vet to get examined and treated. The vet will need to do a complete physical exam and likely some testing (i.e. bloodwork) to help diagnose the underlying problem so that we know how best to help Shaggy moving forward. Just about every disease can cause these symptoms, so it is hard to say what the possible cause is, but the vet should be able to gather more information after you go in.
