My dog threw up after chewing a bone. Is a piece stuck in his throat?

If the suspicious is a foreign body (fishbone) stuck in the airways I recommend to seek veterinarian attention asap, this is an emergency situation. I am very sorry to hear about Tomy. If he truly has bones stuck in his throat this is a medical emergency and he needs to go to the vet immediately. They can sedate him and try to manually remove the bones, which requires a delicate hand as damage to the esophagus can be very dangerous. Sometimes dogs can also have vomiting or retching when something like a bone is in the stomach, which also needs veterinary attention.

Poor Nico! It sounds like the bone has made him sick, and I would be very concerned that a piece of it could be stuck in his GI tract or perforated his GI tract. Given he is crying and throwing up with pieces of bone in it, I feel it's best he sees a vet immediately. He needs an exam and x-rays to see if the bone is causing an obstruction. If it is, he will need surgery to remove it. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. If you have an emergency vet available in your area, I would strongly recommend getting him seen right away. Keep him warm, keep him hydrated by offering low sodium chicken broth, ice cubes to lick and get him seen the second you can. And make sure to submit the vet bill to whoever fed him bones and people food. It may not do any good, but it may make them more aware of the consequences of feeding pets something they shouldn't have.

You should never give your dog bones, it is possible that he has an intestinal blockage due to the bone ingestion, i strongly recommend taking him to the vet ASAP in order to have an xray done. if the bone is still there and blocking the GI system, a surgery to have the bone removed is necessary.

I would not recommend making Cooper vomit. IF he continues to vomit I would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible for a possible obstruction. I would monitor him closely for eating, drinking and defecation. If he is not defecation or having diarrhea I would recommend taking him to a vet. Puppies are notorious for swallowing anything that crosses their path. They don't have hands, so they explore everything with their mouths. He may have swallowed something that is stuck, there may even be a piece of string looped around the base of his tongue. Hopefully your vet did a thorough oral examination, including lifting the tongue in order to see underneath. This area is very hard to see and string can hide there very easily. It could be a long human hair that is bothering him. If you find string, thread or hair in his mouth that goes down his throat, DO NOT PULL IT. Same goes for any you may see as he tries to defecate. NEVER pull on any linear foreign body. It could be looped around some soft tissue out of sight and you will cause more damage. Any stringlike material caught around the tongue should be cut with a pair of safety scissors and allowed to go on down. If this happens, let your vet know what is going on and if he develops any other symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite, get him back in to see your vet right away.
