My dog ate a bone, vomiting, not drinking. Could it be a blockage?

Poor Aj! I would recommend taking him to the vet today for an exam, as from your description I'm concerned that he may have an intestinal blockage or some damage to his stomach or intestines from the bone. Your veterinarian can take x-rays to assess the situation and see what needs to be done.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry Shadow isn't feeling well. It could be pancreatitis but it could also be just general stomach upset. He ate something his body isn't used to and there were sharp bone fragments. He could also have a piece of the bone stuck somewhere. I would recommend taking him to the vet because he is young and I don't want him to dehydrate. They may need to take X-rays. They can then give him medications to calm his stomach. In the future I would not recommend giving Shadow any bones for fear of the above things. Good luck and kisses to Shadow!

If you have an emergency vet available in your area, I would strongly recommend getting him seen right away. Keep him warm, keep him hydrated by offering low sodium chicken broth, ice cubes to lick and get him seen the second you can. And make sure to submit the vet bill to whoever fed him bones and people food. It may not do any good, but it may make them more aware of the consequences of feeding pets something they shouldn't have.

I'm afraid it's stuck in Princess's digestive system as well. You have to take her into a vet immediately, this is a medical emergency. If she does have this bone stuck, she will need surgery to remove it. Leaving an obstruction untreated is fatal, so please take her into a vet now.

Yes, it is possible that the vomiting was due to an obstruction from the chicken bone, but it could also be due to running around like a lunatic. I would monitor Jax for now. If he continues to vomit, becomes lethargic, anorexia, and/or develops diarrhea, I would have him seen by a vet immediately.

It could be due to dietary indiscretion or even more concerning due to a gastrointestinal obstruction. The fact that Bailey ate dinner and did not vomit makes me think that it is less likely for this to be an obstruction though if the vomiting resumes or he stops eating, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I'm quite concerned this bone is causing Simba's problems. Bones should never be given to dogs because they cause obstructions, and he is potentially showing signs of an obstruction. You need to take him into a vet immediately.
