Why is my dog's vulva swollen and she's licking after spay surgery?

Her vagina will probably return to normal size in a few months, this typically happens after a dog is spayed. the redness and itching are probably allergy related, this will need to be checked and treated with allergy meds by a vet. Kennel cough in most cases does not require treatment but she is on antibiotics already so no reason to worry, it will resolve soon. regarding the licking of the spay wound, you need to put an e-collar around her neck for 2 weeks post surgery to prevent this from happening.

The vulva looks swollen indeed. Stevie may have vaginitis, which is not uncommon in young dogs. It is usually mild but irritating bacterial infection of vulva. The other explanation I can think of is a small wound or insect bite the triggered the itchiness and irritation and Stevie by continues licking the area, made it worse. First of all, you need to stop her from licking the vulva. Head cone would be ideal. If she doesn't tolerate a cone you could try a diaper, but a cone would be better. If the swelling does not go down or at least improve in the next 24hrs you will need to take Stevie to your local vets for a check up.

Licking and biting excessively at the vulva is often a sign of a urinary tract infection, vaginitis, or certain types of allergies. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do at home to treat any of these problems effectively, so I would recommend taking her to the vet tomorrow for an exam if possible - she will probably need prescription antibiotics or other medication to treat the problem.

I suggest you take her back to the vet for an exam. She may have a piece of ovary that was left behind during surgery that is causing stimulation of the mammary and vulvar tissues. I would be concerned she may have an infection causing her pain and discomfort hence the licking and self trauma. It is very early for her to be back in a true heat (although not impossible) and I recommend a full vet check as soon as possible to determine exactly what is going on

My guess is that she got some razor burn around the vulva. Do you have any hydrocortisone cream? If so, I would use that. Just put a thin layer on the vulva (not inside) twice a day. Do not let her lick it off. If she is licking you will need to get her a cone collar to wear. If you don't have any hydrocortisone cream you can get some at any drugstore. I recommend getting 0.5%. I recommend bathing her with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to help soothe the skin. Then place an E-collar on her to prevent any licking.
