My dog has a swollen spot with fluid that won't drain. What is it?

Poor Lefteye! It looks like this is probably a skin growth or tumor of some kind, especially if it has been there for months with no change. I'm afraid there it no way that you can safely do anything with it at home - even if there is fluid inside, draining it will not fix the underlying problem and would be very painful for her without sedation. I would recommend taking Lefteye to the vet next week to have this checked. Your vet can talk to you about options for removing it, and possibly sending it to the lab for identification to find out if it's cancerous or not.

With it being close to the eye I would be careful with draining it. Your could try to put a warm damp cloth on it twice a day to see if that helps. If it isnt improving then I would take her to your vet for an exam. Your vet will be able to prescribe her some stronger ointment, oral antibiotics and drain it if needed. I hope this helps!!

I would not keep pressing on it, as you can accidentally introduce infection into the area. Have Tootsie seen by a vet. They can drain it sterilely, and discuss with you removing the sac so that it doesn't fill back up. Best of luck.

From what you have detailed in your description and the picture you have provided, I would recommend getting her seen by her regular vet sooner rather than later. If she is dealing with a protein / fluid imbalance in her body, this could be causing fluid accumulation in various areas of the body. If something is causing lymph fluid to accumulate in the leg, I would want that also examined sooner rather than later. It does not sound like an injury since she is not painful and given that you are describing it as a sac of fluid, I would want her examined and have this looked at by a vet soon. This is most likely a seroma which is just a fluid pocket. But a seroma can inhibit healing if it is too big. I would have your vet look at it so they can drain it. Your vet will be able to confirm that it is a seroma and that there isn’t any pus or infection involved. After it is drained you can put a warm compress on it for 10 minutes twice a day to help prevent the fluid from coming back. Sometimes it will return and need to be drained again. Also make sure you are keeping her confined as too much activity can also cause these to form post-op. I hope this helps!

It looks like there is accumulation of fluid (the cranial swelling) and inflammation of the surgical site. the rest of the wound looks like it is healing. a check up and physical examination it is essential in her case to rule out any accumulation of fluid (which could be even pus).

This should be fully examined by a vet and the fluid aspirated and examined under a microscope in order to determine the underlying nature. The longer this is left untreated the greater chance of permanent scarring and deformity.
