Why is my dog's skin swollen? Could it be a burn, rash, or infection?

However, with anything under the skin that is growing, we become concerned about an infection (abscess formation), a mass of some kind, or a blood accumulation (hematoma), among others. I would recommend Rokko be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin swelling/redness, have any necessary testing done (needle aspirate, culture) and start any treatment that may be needed. It is difficult to say what this could be without pictures and knowing the location of this problem. From your description, I would guess that this is a skin infection or skin allergy. I would recommend starting the following: 1. Welactin omega 3 fish oil capsules 2. Duoxo PS Chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved 3. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply to affected area twice daily until resolved. If there is no improvement, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Leila in order to figure out what exactly is going on. Leila may also need a course of an oral antibiotic as part of treatment as well. I hope this helps and the skin improves! Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can see that Brooke has a significant amount of redness and hair loss under her nose, chin, and around her lips. This can be caused by bacterial or fungal infections as well as allergic reactions. Unfortunately, some fungal infections such as ringworm can come from soil and be transmitted to people. I recommend having Brooke seen by a vet as soon as possible - she may need antibiotics to resolve the infection and itching. I hope this helps and that all is well!

This could be due to an infection or an allergic reaction for example. I would highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center. I'm sorry to hear that Rocco has these spots on his body. They look like they could be ringworm, which is a fungus that infects the skin and causes patchy round area of redness and hairloss. Often a topical antifungal shampoo or cream will help treat this, however in some cases oral antifungal medication may be needed. I recommend monitoring Rocco's response to the treatments that your veterinarian prescribed, and have him evaluated again if signs worsen or do not start to improve within a week! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Lee! Based on your photo is appears to be either a pyoderma (skin infection) or a hot spot (superficial skin infection). Because it is getting worse quickly, make an appointment tomorrow to get your Vet to look at ti. They will likely prescribe antibiotics, something for the itch, and maybe a topical. Good luck!

If the medications you used don't help within 24 hours, I recommend seeing a vet for oral antibiotics. Also, if that's his neck make sure to clean his collar too. Good luck and kisses to Murphy!
