My dog's glands are swollen after her vaccine. Could it be cancer?

The locations that you are describing likely involve Bailey's mandibular and axillary lymph nodes. Lymph nodes can become enlarged as a reaction to certain inflammatory conditions, or even to cancer. I would be surprised if her recent influenza vaccine or diet changes are involved. She needs to see her vet in the next day or two for an exam and fine needle aspirates of the affected lymph nodes. The fine needle aspirate entails sticking a needle into lymph node to draw out a few cells (its relatively quick and painless!) before examining the cells microscopically.

If Georgia is only a year old and only has a single swollen lymph node it is more likely infection related. However, the only way to know for sure is to have her examined and a needle aspirate sample obtained from the lymph node. Your veterinarian can evaluate the sample under the microscope to help determine if it is infection or cancer related. However, dogs can develop mammary masses. Her veterinarian will feel the nipple and surrounding gland to see if this may be the case. If so, surgery is typically recommended. Hopefully this is not necessary though. Her hindlimbs can be evaluated at the same appointment. If she is struggling to get around and jump, it needs to be determined if her legs are sore or if the pain is actually in her back. Regardless, this is likely a separate issue from the nipple. The veterinarian will try to determine where she hurts and may recommend x-rays of the affected area. Based on these results, treatment can be started to help her feel better. In the meantime, keep her quiet and carry her as much as possible. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

Cancer would be extremely unlikely in this age group. Swollen lymph nodes are common in puppies as their immune system is still developing and reacting to many new stimuli, continued monitoring for 3-4weeks is advised. Heart murmurs are also quite common in growing pups and most are completely innocent and require monitoring to see if they disappear

In my experience lymph nodes can be enlarged for days to week after a dental cleaning if the teeth were bad enough. However best thing to do is aspirate the lymph node and send out the cytology. This will tell you for sure why they are enlarged and help you not worry.

However, there are lymph nodes present in the groin region where her bumps appear to be located. Based on how large they look, there is a good chance the cancer has spread.
