Dog's neck swollen, tiny lump after dental. Should I worry about cancer?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 9 years and 7 months old | 3.6 lbs

Bella neck lymph nodes still swollen. Both are the same size and not increasing. Was feeling around her face and also felt a tiny lump (pimple size) on her face below her ear on the left. I can't tell if it is on the skin or below the skin. Still trying to get to vet and will call in morning. Is this sounding like cancer? I am terrified. Eating, drinking, bathrooming and feel like she has more energy after her dental procedure on Monday than she has in a long time. Just looking for advice.

In my experience lymph nodes can be enlarged for days to week after a dental cleaning if the teeth were bad enough. However best thing to do is aspirate the lymph node and send out the cytology. This will tell you for sure why they are enlarged and help you not worry.
