My dog has anal gland cancer. Are red lumps on belly spreading?

It depends a little on where these are and what they feel like. I am assuming under the skin if felt but not seen. If they are back in the groin/where the leg and groin meet and are on opposite sides from each other then they may be inguinal lymph nodes. If this is the case, especially if you're finding any other lymph node enlargement (the ones under the jaw are the easiest for owners to find), I would have your girl checked out by your vet. If these are just lumps under the skin they likely represent of mass of some sort. Are they freely moveable? There are several different types of masses that dogs can get under their skin, some more concerning than others. A very common benign tumor is a fatty tumor called a lipoma, but as other more concerning tumors can feel the same as a lipoma, I typically recommend that all masses be evaluated with needle cytology to know for sure. This is a simple procedure that your family vet can perforn. If fat is noted from this needle aspiration then no treatment other than monitoring is needed. If you elect to monitor for a while at home, and don't think that these are lymph nodes, just make sure that you're not noticing growth or a change in texture or the ability to move the mass around. Wow! Poor Baby! I am really concerned about the potential of mast cell tumors. I would talk to your vet about whether they have aspirated any of them. If so, they may want to remove one of them and send it in to the pathologist to see what it is. They may want to send it in for a cytology, bacterial culture, and fungal culture to help figure out the problem. I would have make sure your vet has done blood work to look at her white blood count. If it isn't high and they suspect mast cell tumor, I would either go see an oncologist or start her on prednisone. I hope this helps to guide you in her treatment.

Non-ractive warts and other growths which do not cause the dog to chew on them are usually not of concern provided they do not grow, or grow very slowly and are not oozing a discharge, bleeding or causing infection. That said, every growth should be examined by a veterinarian, as it could indeed be malignant. Previously benign masses can also turn into malignant masses. As for cancer cells spreading in the body from being ingested: that would depend on the cancer. If the mass is cancerous and just in the skin, it is likely that removing it with a good margin (healthy tissue surrounding it) may be curative. Your veterinarian will have to examine the mass and palpate it and may want to remove it right away, or do a fine needle aspirate to determine whether it is indeed a cancer. Since it is bothering your dog and Nisha is chewing it , there is a chance that it could get infected, another reason to have it examined ASAP.

If the lump is associated with one of the anal sacs (glands at about 4 and 8 o clock inside the anal sphincter) it could be an apocrine gland tumor. Apocrine glands are sweat glands. There are also other lumps that can occur in this area so it depends on if the lump is in the typical location for one of these glands. One thing that could be considered before surgery is a needle aspirate with cytology. We use this test commonly to try to diagnose lumps before surgery. It can be helpful to know what it is before surgery because if malignant some tests may be recommended before surgery and the surgery plan sometimes changes. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. Poor Lady Bug. Since she is not fixed, my biggest concern is cancer. She could have mammary tumors - approximately 50% are benign and the other 50% are malignant. Whether you are talking about her vulva or anus, she could have a mass on the inside that has grown its way toward the orifice so that you can now see them. These can also be benign or malignant but I would strongly recommend to have a vet look at her. Your vet will be able to help you come up with a plan that will best suit you and Lady Bug’s needs and help make her feel better. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature.
