My dog swallowed a 3cm silicone milk cap. Should he see a vet?

It will either pass through or it could potential get stuck and cause an obstruction. If she chewed it in pieces than it will likely pass through without getting stuck. It may cause some inflammation in her intestines and you may notice some diarrhea. If she starts vomitng, becomes lethargic, or stops eating than she needs to be seen right away.

Although this may be a fairly small object and may very well pass on it's own, I would look out for any signs of a brewing problem that may indicate an obstruction such as vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, and lethargy. It depends on the size of the cap ingested. The biggest concern would be it getting stuck in the intestinal tract which would require surgery to get out. It may be better to take Jax in to induce vomiting. If he ingested it in the past 1 hour then there is a good chance he could vomit it back out. A veterinarian can give a injection that works well to induce vomiting.

If it was ingested within the past hour, you can take him to the ER and have them induce vomiting to see if they can get it back out. That size has a good chance of getting stuck somewhere along the intestinal tract but could potentially pass. Signs of a blockage are vomiting, lack of appetite, belly pain, and/or lethargy.

You can observe Bruno closely for signs of a gastrointestinal foreign body. These would include vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy, abdominal pain, straining to have a bowel movement. If any of these occur, seek veterinary care. Luckily it has been 4 days with no issue, and usually an object will have passed through the GI tract in this amount of time. Also, the bottle cap would easily be seen on an x-ray so it will be very easy to see the problem if he does start acting ill.

In many instances, a small object will pass through the digestive tract. If the ingestion just occurred (within the past few hours) and the object isn't sharp in nature, we will sometimes induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide in an attempt to get them to vomit the object up (but you should consult your vet before doing this as there are some conditions, such as megaesophagus, which can make this dangerous). Otherwise we will try to feed a little extra fiber such as a few teaspoons of canned pumpkin or some whole grain bread to try to help push the object through the digestive tract. You will want to watch for signs of intestinal blockage over the next few days which include vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, and straining to have a bowel movement. If these occur, seek veterinary treatment right away.

There isn't much you can do, if you have a big dog the pacifier will hopefully pass through the intestinal tract, if she stops eating are start vomiting - take her to the vet, she will need an xray to check if the pacifier is blocking the intestinal passage.
