My dog swallowed a pacifier. Is it an emergency for a big dog?

If it was ingested within the past hour, you can take him to the ER and have them induce vomiting to see if they can get it back out. That size has a good chance of getting stuck somewhere along the intestinal tract but could potentially pass. Signs of a blockage are vomiting, lack of appetite, belly pain, and/or lethargy.

It's hard to say if it will pass safely or not. Round objects could cause issues. If it was recent, I would recommend taking Maci in to an emergency vet to safely attempt to induce vomiting. If it comes up, no worries!

How small is small? If it was a very small piece it should pass on it's own through his GI tract. If it was a medium to large piece then he should see a vet as that could get stuck in his intestinal tract. Any time a dog ingests something abnormal they should be examined by a vet.

If Piper swallowed the entire squeaky part of a toy, then it may not be able to pass through her GI tract because of its size. You have a couple of options. You can immediately go to your vet to have them induce vomiting if she ingested it within the last 30 minutes. This is sometimes successful for objects that are too large to pass out of the stomach. If you do not decide to do that, you need to monitor her closely for any abnormalities. If she does not feel well, does not want to eat, or starts vomiting, she needs to see a veterinarian immediately. If the squeaker gets stuck in her intestines it can be an emergency. Good luck! I've had several dogs develop GI obstructions from bottle nipples and pacifiers. If you have another piece similar to the one he swallowed, bring that to show the vet - it can also help to place it on the x-ray table next to the dog, to see what sort of density it would have on x-ray. Based on the size, shape, and density of the bottle nipple your vet can discuss with you if it might be safe to try to induce vomiting, or if you should consider endoscopic or surgical removal. Time is of the essence, as you will have better options as long as it's still in the stomach and doesn't pass into the intestines! Good luck! Hope this helps!

She will likely pass it within the next 24 hours. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that may indicate an obstruction. If you want to be 100% safe, have her seen at the nearest veterinary ER. Vomiting can be induced via injection which should bring the scrunchie back up. This is most successful when done within 2 hours of ingestion.

Keep an eye on her for any adverse symptoms but as long as she is behaving normally, I don't think she needs to see the vet right now. I'm having trouble getting the photos to enlarge for me, but what I can see of the toy makes me think that she should be able to pass a piece with too much trouble.
