My pug swallowed a small pine cone from a Christmas decor. Is it safe?

It depends a bit on whether he chewed it up first vs. swallowing it whole, and on how large the piece was that he ate. You will need to monitor him closely for the next few days for any signs of a problem. Symptoms of an intestinal obstruction would include repeated episodes of vomiting, acting lethargic, not wanting to eat, and not having bowel movements. If you see any of these signs, you will need to take Jim to the vet right away for an exam and x-rays, since he may need emergency surgery to remove the blockage.

Many things can make pet's have an upset stomach: parasites, new foods/treats, viral infections, eating something they shouldn't have, toxins, organ disease or even intestinal blockage. The pine cones will generally only cause a problem if they are ingested. They will cause a blockage and this typically appears as vomting, not wanting to eat and being lethargic. The main concern I see if how small Pippy is. Small breed puppies are prone to low blood sugar (which is an emergency) so you really have to make sure they are eating and drinking normally. I generally recommend any pet that has been sick beyond 24 hours to see a veterinarian and that whats I recommend to Pippy too. She's been sick for 2 days and she is very small. Try to get her seen today and bring in a stool sample. The doctor will likely check her for more common reasons like parasites but may recommend further diagnostics. Also, switch her to a bland diet of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% plain boiled white rice. Feed her this for a few days as it will help to intestines to relax more. Well that was naughty of him. Since there is no toxicity concern and this is a rather small item that has a good chance of passing I would not recommend inducing vomiting. Every time we induce vomiting we do put the pet at risk of aspiration. I would continue to monitor him for signs of any trouble which includes vomiting up food and water, lack of appetite, and lethargy. However if the wrapping was small as I presume for a muffin, he will likely pass this with no issues. If he does have an upset stomach but not signs of blockage as mentioned above, then a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese can be fed for a few days along with 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) To help settle his stomach. I would recommend to call the Pet Poison Control hotline to make sure there are no toxic components within the fuse its self. If there is a potential for a toxin, take him into the vet immediately to make him vomit it back up. If no toxicity is present, the small fuse will likely pass in a dog Apollo's size. Feeding him bread (3-5 slices) will help to bulk around the fuse and hopefully prevent it from breaking and allowing the glass to be a problem. As long as there is not a danger of toxins, monitor him closely for vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy or not wanting to eat as these could all be signs that the fuse is causing a problem. If he swallowed a big piece, since it is harder, there is a small chance it could cause an obstruction before the body breaks it down. Signs of an obstruction would be vomiting, lethargy and not eating. Overall Rey should be fine! Have a great day!

What a naughty puppy. If the earring was small enough it has a good chance of coming out. I would feed Chewy 1/2 slice of bread twice a day, in between meals to help bind up the earring and then monitor the stools. Typically it can take 2-7 days for foreign objects to exit. Monitor him for signs of trouble which includes excessive vomiting, abdominal pain, lack of appetite and little to no stools. If you see these signs then it's best to take him in to your vet for abdominal x-rays to see if it is lodged somewhere and further treatment. But as o said it likely will pass. Oh that was naughty of Derek! There is a chance it could pass without problem, and I would just have him seen by a vet tomorrow. If he ate it within the past two hours, the vet may think it's safe to induce him to vomit it up, so you do have the option of calling a vet now about having him seen to get a shot to induce vomiting. That would prevent any chance of an obstruction. Likely, it will pass without problem, but just in case, I will give you the signs of an obstruction. They include vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy, and constipation. You can monitor him for those signs, and keep in mind that it can take up to 72 hours for it to pass. Hopefully, Derek will be just fine :-)
