Why did my dog suddenly die with bleeding eyes and wobbly legs?

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. There are many different problems that could cause those symptoms, so unfortunately an autopsy (called a necropsy in animals) would be the only way to know for sure. Some possible causes would include some type of toxicity (such as antifreeze or rat poison), an illness such as kidney or liver failure, or some type of cancer. Your vet could do a necropsy or direct you to a pathologist for more advanced testing if you want to try and determine a specific cause of death.

Oh my, that is so horrible for you, I am so sorry for your loss! It could be that she got into something toxic causing her symptoms or she could have had an abdominal tumor that suddenly ruptured. Without seeing her in person, I unfortunately can't say for certain. If you would like an answer, you can take her into a vet for a necropsy (an autopsy for dogs). I'm very sorry to hear about your loss of Bert! It's always very hard to lose a pet, especially due to an unknown illness. Unfortunately, it's impossible to say what might have happened as these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by many different things. He may have had some type of serious systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, a neurologic problem of some kind, or may have ingested something toxic. The only way to know for sure what caused his death would be to have an autopsy done, called a necropsy in animals - but if he passed last week, it's likely too late to have this done now. If he was treated by a veterinarian before he passed away, you could ask him/her if they have any idea what might have been wrong based on his physical exam and any testing that was done. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear this! I would be concerned that Maya either got into something toxic while she was out running around or she became overheated and died of heat stroke. There is also a chance she could have had an underlying heart condition that was never diagnosed. Finally there could have been some sort of trauma she encounter like being hit by a car. The watery blood that came out of her nose has most likely come from her lungs. This can be abnormal finding after an animal passes away under more traumatic circumstances. If this recently happened you could take Mays's remains in to your vet and request a necropsy be performed. This may help determine her cause of death. Much sympathy to you.

There is no way to know for sure but diabetes, an infected uterus, kidney disease or a possible brain lesion are all options. Diabetes can cause cataracts which leads to sudden blindness along with drinking excessively and vomiting when they ketoscidosis from it. It usually requires days to weeks of hospitalization when that advanced. Kidney disease also causes drinking a lot with vomiting but unrelated to blindness. Since she is not fixed, her uterus can get an infection called a pyometra which allows it to fill with pus. It requires emergency surgery to fix. This too can cause drinking a lot and vomiting. I am sorry you lost your baby and hope this helps bring you comfort.

First off, I'm so sorry you recently lost Meg! How horrible for you, please accept my condolences for your loss. Old age isn't a disease, and based on your description of her symptoms, I would say something was definitely wrong that could have ended her life even with treatment. From the picture, it appears she could have petechiae, which are small, pinpoint spots on the skin and mucus membranes. That can be caused by rat poison (something toxic), trauma, heat stroke, infectious diseases, DIC, or bone marrow cancers to name some of them. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain, but you could request a necropsy (an autopsy for pets) is done to determine the cause of her again. That’s very sad. Sudden blindness can be from high blood pressure causing retinal detachment or diabetic cataracts. She may have had a heart or lung condition that prevented her from getting enough air and chest expansion to bark. Dogs do die from congestive heart failure, complications from heartworm disease and other heart problems. Unfortunately neither of the symptoms you describe are specific enough to know why she died. I’m sorry for your loss. In the future you can request an autopsy by your veterinarian if an animal dies and you want to know the reason.
