Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 7 years and 4 months old | 60 lbs

i believe my dog may have been stung by something and wonder if i should get her to a vet. I’ve cleaned it with peroxide and put a dog formula healing ointment on it for now

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Brandi. I do recommend that she sees her veterinarian. The wound looks very red and possibly infected. She may need oral medications as opposed to topical formulas if the wound is deep enough. Antibiotics, antihistamines or even steroids are used for insect bites or stings. In the meantime, place an E-collar on her if she is pawing at her face at all. I hope this information helps!
