Dog bee sting: New bumps, itching, and on Benadryl. What's wrong?

Sorry to hear about Brody's ordeal! Bee stings can definitely cause the kind of symptoms which are you describing. I am happy to hear that the benadryl helped. because many times a steroid injection is required to make the swelling subside. If the benadryl is not also helping with the itchiness, another prescription medication may be required. It might help to just take a cool cloth or towel and apply it to the areas that are bothering Brody the most. You will also want to obtain a cone or t-shirt to cover the areas he is scratching at most to prevent any unwanted self-mutilation. If the swelling recurs or the itching is becoming truly unmanageable, I would definitely seek out a vet to assess the issues. Other stinging insects and snakes can also cause swelling, but typically the problems are much mores severe with spider and snake bites. Hope this helps!

They do tend to swell varying amounts when they get stung by bees, but they don't tend to have severe complications, so I would not worry too much right now. You can safely give one 50mg tablet of benadryl by mouth to help prevent allergic reactions. Just know that this will make him drowsy. An allergic reaction normally happens within the first couple of hours, so if he's doing OK by the end of the day, then he should be fine. If he starts vomiting, you notice his face swell excessively, or he seems to have trouble breathing, then these would be signs of an allergic reaction that needs emergency vet treatment. Hello, benadryl will definitely treat an allergic reaction, however, if your dog is also bruising and bleeding then that is not a characteristic of an allergic reaction that could be treated with just benadryl. I would recommend having him evaluated for this bruising and bleeding as benadryl will likely note treat this on its own. Hope this helps and best of luck!!!

These bumps could be from an allergic reaction, mites, fleas, or a skin infection. Because Benadryl hasn't helped and Kylo has had these bumps for a week, it's time to see the vet. The vet can diagnose the cause of the bumps, and can prescribe the correct treatment for them. I would take him into the vet in the morning. I hope this helps!

The only thing you can do at home is to give Benadryl. If he is still having issues than he needs to be seen by a vet. Your vet can give an injection of prednisone to help treat the hives and make him feel better.

This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog becomes lethargic, take him to the vet in order to get an antihistamine/steroid injection. from your description at this moment i think he is probably fine, but this can change so monitor him closely.
