My dog has stomach issues. Could it be a foreign object blockage?

Poor Cooper! That is quite a large bump on his bottom, and it sounds like you are in a tough spot at the moment. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain what is best for him but I can give my opinion. Given that he is trying to eat and drinking, and is running around, you can ask your vet if an enema and stool softener may help. The problem is that it would be a temporary fix if it did work, and the hernia will continue to get worse over time. Given his relatively young age, it may be worth speaking with another vet to get a second opinion, such as a specialized veterinary surgeon. Veterinary surgeons have extensive training in surgery, and they may be able to attempt surgery to see if that can fix his hernia and prevent you from making the decision to put him to sleep. I think that would be a worthwhile avenue to pursue for him, and it may give you the option of surgery. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Sadly it is very possible that Onyx has a partial obstruction in the upper GI tract from swallowing the soft toy. I am glad that he is acting normally, but the vomiting after eating is very concerning. I recommend having him examined by a veterinarian and likely having x-rays taken to look for signs of an obstruction in the GI tract. The sooner, the better, to prevent possible damage to the GI tract, dehydration or more serious complications. Onyx may need surgery or a scoping procedure to remove an obstruction.

Since she is exhibiting some signs of eating foreign material, it is very important at this point to make sure that she is not obstructed as that will require therapy. I would highly recommend you consider having her evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check on this with abdominal radiographs and proceed with therapy accordingly. It sounds as though you're concerned that Cooper may have an intestinal obstruction/blockage from eating everything he can find. The most common signs of an obstruction include vomiting, lethargy and inappetence, so if you observe any of these changes, he needs to go to an ER vet immediately. If Copper is otherwise eating, drinking and acting normally, consider adding a small amount of canned pure pumpkin (not pie filling!) to his diet to see if the added fiber helps him to have a bowel movement. If he still hasn't had a bowel movement by tomorrow, he should see his vet for signs of constipation. I assume that Copper is urinating normally, but if he has not urinted today, he needs to see an ER vet immediately.

It is possible that the cloth that Ghontu ate could cause a blockage in her intestines. If this is the case, it could become a life threatening surgical emergency. If Ghontu is not eating or drinking normally or if she begins vomiting, you should take her to a veterinarian immediately. Good luck! I hope Ghontu is feeling better soon.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. The x-rays that you provided show what looks to be foreign material in the stomach. It looks very similar to pieces of a ball with the rounded edges. This does not appear to be ingested food based on the appearance and shape period while not serious at the moment, one of these could pass from the stomach into the intestines and cause serious problems. I would consider rechecking the X-ray a few hours after the previous x-rays have been taken to see if there has been any change in the pattern. If there is no change in the pattern, I would suggest taking pixie in for surgery to have the abdomen explored. Prior to the surgery, you can also have an abdominal ultrasound performed to help confirm foreign material in the stomach. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
