Why is my dog's bark squeaky after boarding? Should I be concerned?

Not necessarily. If this was his first time away from you, he may have had a touch of separation anxiety. He might also have gotten into bouts of barking with a neighbor. if he is not acting different (scared, anxious, hyperactive, etc.), and if he came back to you clean and bright-eyed, the facility is probably fine.

If Panfilo has been barking a lot and playing lately, it is possible that he developed a hoarse bark due to overuse. Similar to humans when a person screams / yells for a while, the voice becomes hoarse. His bark should come back normally without any lasting problems. I hope this helps! I’m wondering if Orcan barked a lot when he was at the kennel and now has a ‘hoarse voice’. This is certainly something that can happen after lots of barking. He should improve in a few days. If not you should check in with your vet.

Yes, persistent barking can cause a dog to lose their voice temporarily, it should resolve over the next 2-3weeks. If she is coughing or had any difficulty swallowing you should have her checked by your vet

This could be due to a degeneration of the laryngeal nerve that is innervating the larynx being in charge of its movement (vocal chords included). Inflammation of this nerve and upper respiratory airways infection is possible as well.
