My dog has a sore by her anus. What can I put on it temporarily?

She may have rubbed against something or turn too fast and scrapped it on something Clan the area with soap and water and apply neosporin to it. You can also apply preparations h to help heal the area If it is not improving after a few days then see your vet for oral medication

You can apply some Neosporin to it topically but honestly, most of the times this means that the gland is impacted or infected. I suggest you take her to your vet or groomer to have the glands checked/expressed. You can try the Neosporin for a couple days but if she continues to scoot or that sore looks worse at any time you should get her to your vet for an exam.

The dog spray is better, in my opinion, because it dries faster and then you don't have to worry about them licking it. Yes, just based on your description (since I can't see it), it probably is a ruptured anal gland abscess. If the dog will let you, keep the area clean (you can use a baby wipe) and apply some Neosporin to it twice a day until the owner returns. It would also be recommended that you get her a "cone" collar to stop her from licking it. Hello. Sorry to hear about Sammy boy's sore on his penis. I would recommend just cleaning it with warm water. I would not put Panalog cream on this as if it is infect you will like need an oral antibiotic. If Sammy boy is not bothered by the sore I would give it a few days to heal on it's own, and if it is getting better to just leave it. If Sammy is chewing or licking at the wound you will need to get an E-Collar/Cone so he cannot lick at it, as the bacteria from his mouth and irritation from licking will make it worse. If the wound does not improve over the next 24-48 hours, or if it looks like it has a yellow discharge, or is bleeding or swollen, then have it seen by a veterinarian.
