My dog has a soft, white, pea-sized lump on its belly. Is it serious?

my dog has a small little pea shaped lump on its underside white in color very soft and squidgy no pain looks a bit like a white head a human can get but more resembles a little balloon the size of a very small pea

This appears to be a possible pustule (infected small pocket underneath the skin). If just one of these is present and it isn't causing any discomfort, then I would suggest monitoring the area to see if it resolves on its own. You can gently clean the area with a mild soap (ie Dove) and warm water and placing a very thin layer of Neosporin to the bump to see if it goes away. However if it starts to spread or does not resolve within a week or two then a vet visit is needed to get Louie on a short course of antibiotics to get this to heal well. Based on the picture you provided, I suspect this could be an area of the skin that has developed an infection or these are insect bites (ants, etc.). I would recommend using Sentry Topical Wound Ointment which can be found at Petco and apply this twice daily until resolved. If the bumps continue to spread, worsen or do not resolve, I would recommend having Jax examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. My dog has a soft, quickly appearing lump with no pain. What to do?

Has he been licking at it? Can you identify a wound on it? It may be an abscess (localized infection) under the skin, as thise can show up very quickly. You can shave the hair over the top and clean it with dilute Betadine (available at any pharmacy - use water to dilute it so it looks like tea). Put an ecollar (cone) on him to prevent him from biting or chewing on it, and make an appointment with your vet as soon as you can—but it’s not something you need to see an emergency vet for as long as it’s not seeming painful and he’s eating and acting normally. Other possible causes would be some type of tumor (though less likely with his age), or a fluid accumulation called a seroma. Your vet may Do a fine needle aspirate (poke the bump with a needle and then look at cells under the microscope) to see what it is and then know how best to treat it. Puppy has a pimple-like bump on tummy. Is it serious? When to see vet?

Hello, Thanks for the good picture. I agree that it does look like a solitary pimple, very well could be from an insect sting initially. I would just monitor this for now. If it spreads into many pimples, a larger sore, or an itchy rash, those would be reasons to have him seen by his veterinarian to ensure he doesn't have a skin infection that requires treatment. You can use a warm compress with saline or epsom salt water on the area for a few minutes twice per day. Otherwise, don't apply any ointments and just let it stay dry and open to air. My dog has a new pea-sized bump with a sore on his skin. What is it?

This looks like it could be an insect bite or sting, or a tick bite if they are in your area. Skin infections can also occasionally start this way. If you start to see more lesions similar to the one above, or if this bump begins to increase in size or have any discharge I would recommend having it examined by your veterinarian. If it is an insect bite it should be gone in the next 7-10 days or so. Monster is a handsome guy!

My dog has small bumps with white heads on his underbelly. What to do?

This appears to be a pustule (pus-filled bump), which indicates that Sebastian has a pyoderma (bacterial skin infection). You can help remove these and keep them from coming back by cleaning the area with a medicated shampoo (can find this at the pet store) daily. Clean the area for at-least ten minutes at a time using warm water and a cloth. Wipe the skin gently, but do not scrub. Don't be surprised if some of these lesions pop - this is perfectly fine. Continue the daily cleaning until you don't see these bumps anymore. If it's not getting better within two weeks, then it's best to take Sebastian to the vet. He may need stronger medication to clear this problem and they can also ensure that his overall health is OK. I hope that helps and Sebastian gets better soon.

What's this big white and purple bump on my puppy's hairless belly?

It's likely an infection under the skin. This happens more commonly in puppies and can be treated effectively by a veterinarian. It's also possible that this is a benign growth, but much less likely. It's best to have a veterinarian examine her, because this may need to be drained. It's also possible that something is stuck under the skin, which is causing the inflammation and infection. For now it's best to hold a warm compress over the bump for 15 minutes twice a day. Do this by soaking a cloth in warm salt water and applying it the the bump. Avoid pressing or poking the bump.
