My dog sneezed blood and is limping. Could aspirin be the cause?

Poor Wednesday! Unfortunately, I am unable to prescribe any medication without examining Wednesday myself. I do not recommend giving her aspirin, as it may have some unwanted side effects in dogs such as damage to the kidneys, gastric ulcers, and bleeding issues when given in high doses. She should definitely be seen by a vet as soon as possible, especially because she is limping. Your vet can take x-rays to see where the trauma is, and perform blood work to make sure that Wednesday's organs are functioning properly to handle any pain medication, as well as place a cast or splint if necessary. You should try to keep her as calm and quiet, with as little activity as possible until she is examined by a vet. Good luck and I hope Wednesday feels better soon!

I assume you mean Bayer aspirin. Aspirin is not recommended for use in dogs and will cause stomach ulcers, and in overdose situations will cause kidney failure. I suspect he may be shaking because either he is in pain from the cause of the limp, or he may have an upset stomach from the aspirin. Offer a bland diet tonight (chicken and rice), and monitor him for vomiting. Offer small amounts of water frequently. Please try to take him to your vet as soon as you can tomorrow or the next day to thoroughly evaluate him. If he is becoming quite lethargic or is vomiting, please seek emergency care for him. It's unlikely that a single dose in a healthy dog would cause internal bleeding, but aspirin is a blood thinner, and in dogs on certain medications or with certain health issues, one dose could cause fatal bleeding problems. It is why most vets never recommend its use in dogs with unknown causes of pain.

I'm sorry to hear Maggie is vomiting. That is on the higher end of the dose range that dogs can tolerate for aspirin, and one of the known side effects to it can be GI upsets and ulcers. Her vomiting could also be unrelated to the aspirin and due to another underlying issue. I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her vomiting, have any necessary testing done (X-rays) and get started on any treatment (anti-nausea medication, antacid, bland diet, GI protectant) that may be needed. Poor Mazie! A fungal infection like aspergillosis is certainly one possible cause of persistent sneezing and nosebleeds that are not resolved with antibiotics. Other possibilities would include a nasal foreign body, or a nasal tumor. I would recommend talking to your veterinarian about the next steps from here to try and get a diagnosis. In many cases, referral to a specialist for rhinoscopy and a CT scan is needed to determine the problem.

I would be concerned about possible damage to the sinus tissue, a platelet disorder leading to her bleeding easier or even something like a bacterial infection causing a vasculitis which is when the blood vessels get leaky. I would recommend Lucy get checked out by her veterinarian so they can make sure she doesn't have any sort of bleeding issue or infection as if either those are present this could get worse.

Also, swelling is concerning for either a significant injury (fracture/dislocation), an infection or abscess (pocket of pus), or in older animals we worry about cancers.
