My dog has skinny poop for weeks. Is this normal or a concern?

If you would like to increase the size of the stool, I would add fiber to the diet or feed a high fiber dog food. This should help bulk up the stool. I hope this helps! No he's perfect. We are getting used to many dogs and cats being fat. His coat is shiny, he has a good waist and there is plenty of muscle over his spine. It does sound like he poops more than normal. I would try a higher calorie food. There may be excessive fiber in the food you are feeding causing that much poop. Gradually mix the new food with the old one over a week or so to prevent stomach upset. I'm pleased to see such a fit, active dog. Your dog may have diarrhea or constipation issues. You can try a high fiber diet like Hills I/d for a few days and see if this clears up the issues, or add canned pumpkin to her food. If this doesn't seem to solve the issue, she needs to see a vet for fecal tests to see what's going on. She may need to be dewormed or to be on probiotics or antibiotics. Hope that helps!

You can add canned pumpkin to add fiber to his diet which may help firm up his stools. You can add 1 tablespoon of canned pumpkin to his meals. You can also add probiotics such as Fortiflora.
