What can I give my dog for skin parasites like fleas or mites?

Skin parasites can range from ticks/fleas where I would suggest a flea/tick preventive such as Seresto collar, Capstar or Bravecto. Bravecto is an oral medication that off-label can also protect from mange and mites. Bravecto can be ordered by your vet and the collar or topical flea/tick preventive is over the counter in the USA. You would need to get a skin scrape at your vet's first to confirm it is indeed mites (it could be many other things). my preferred medication for mites is Bravecto although Advocate and Ivermectin are good options as well.

Ticks are one thing, dogs do not get Lice (they get fles, which are another thing), Mange is a third different thing caused by skin mites. there is no product that treats all 3 types of parasites, here is the list of the best flea products on the market. If your veterinarian suspects a secondary infection, they could prescribe antibiotics. You can also use an e-collar to prevent self trauma. Good luck!

Great questions! There are no medications that covers mosquitos or flea eggs, but dogs can be protected from heartworm by Heartgard (heartworm is transferred via mosquitos). As for flea eggs, flea medications will kill fleas to prevent them from laying flea eggs, but you should disinfect the environment if Pumpkin has fleas. I personally highly recommend Revolution. It kills fleas, ear mites, and roundworms. I hope this helps :-)

Antibiotics that could be prescribed for secondary skin infections include Clavamox and Cephalexin among others. The type of antibiotic prescribed by your vet depends on the type of bacterial infection they find on Keo's skin. Again, all prescription medication should be used under the direct supervision of your veterinarian.

Unfortunately fleas do not live on the dog, but only hop on to feed and then they hop off and stay in his environment (your apartment!) until it is time to feed again. So you need to treat all pets in the household as well as the environment (which contains the fleas, their eggs and larvae). Flea treatment:  1) Get some flea medication such as a Flea spray or a spot on from a pet shop or your veterinarian and apply monthly (which you have done already) 2) get flea powder, put some in your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum your house and furniture and also non-carpeted areas frequently to remove flea larvae and eggs which live off house dust., Dispose of the bag in the trash outside. Hot-wash all the pet's bedding, If you do this diligently for a few months you will get rid of the fleas.
