Accidentally gave Simparica & Sentinel with Seresto. Is my dog okay?

BUT if this is the first time giving one or both of the drugs then I would give one at a time 2 days apart in case one causes a problem. Then if there are no issues give them together next month. Fortunately, those drugs do not typically interact negatively with each other and theoretically should not cause any issue. I would monitor for any vomiting, inappetence, excessive sedation, incoordination, etc. for 24 hours but wouldn't anticipate that you would see any signs. If you are concerned or she begins acting abnormally, I would recommend reaching out to your regular veterinarian or ASPCA poison control for further advice.

According to studies done by Zoetis who make Simparica, "In the overdose groups, transient and self-limiting neurological signs were observed in some animals: mild tremors at 3 times the maximum exposure dose and convulsions at 5 times the maximum exposure dose. All dogs recovered without treatment." You don't need to do anything. I hope this helps!

Although both are oral heart worm and intestinal parasite preventatives and typically speaking, giving two heart worm preventatives together or within a short amount of time is not recommended, combining these two preventatives together accidentally one week apart should not result in a negative reaction. Sam may have some transient diarrhea or vomiting, however. I hope this helps put your mind at ease and best wishes to you and Sam!

Parker should be fine. Both Bravecto and Simparica are similar types of medication, but they are tested before being sold at multiple times the regular dose and have minimal side effects. She definitely shouldn't have fleas now!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I prescribe Nexgard and Sentinel together multiple times per day. I haven’t heard of any reactions. Just like people some dogs can react to certain medications. If you google any medication for human or animals you will find stories of adverse reactions. No drug doesn’t come without side effects. To be safe give the drugs 2 days apart the first time you give them. I have some clients that give one the 1st of the month and the other mid month. Personally I haven’t heard of any reactions going the 2 together. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

It is ok to give trifexis and simparica together (staggered by 2 weeks is great). Both of those medications will protect against fleas so there is some overlap with that. If you want to streamline how many medications you are giving Dakota monthly, Another option would be to use sentinel or interceptor instead of the trifexis and give with that with simparica monthly. These products contain the same heart worm preventative (milbemycin) as trifexis but do not contain any medication to kill adult fleas. (Trifexis contains both the milbemycin for heart worm prevention and Spinosad for fleas). That way you would be giving one medication for heart worm prevention (sentinel or interceptor ) and one for flea and tick prevention (simparica). Another option is to continue trifexis and add in a tick collar (such as the preventic collar or the seresto collar). I know there are so many products and options it is confusing !
