Why is my dog shivering, in pain, can't bend neck, and vomiting?

Going stiff in the back legs is not expected and is very concerning. I recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian today. Infections or toxins could cause both of the symptoms and these can be very serious. Just like with humans, getting an accurate diagnosis and early treatment gives a better prognosis. Poor pup! If you don't see any direct injury or abnormality, it could be in her spin, neck or TMJ. Soft tissue injuries are also possible. Spinal and neck lesions are potentially serious. It sounds like Paris is in pain and I recommend to have her examined today. She will get medication to help her to feel better and the veterinarian will conduct a physical exam which may diagnose the cause of her pain. Other diagnostics may be needed as well. He may have some spinal cord problems, especially with the cervical spinal cord, such as a slipped disk or arthritic changes that press on nerves and are painful. Ob is apparently very much in pain and therefore should be seen by a veterinarian tonight. The vet will do a thorough physical exam, palpate the spine to find where the pain is coming from, and also do a neurological exam and then x-rays. He will then discuss the exam findings with you and possible treatment. Your dog will get pain medicine and other medications as necessary. Dogs with pain often do not eat, and eating also may be painful as he has to chew, open his mouth and move the jaws. This may be more painful than lapping up water.

This can be the result of a bulging intervertebral disc in his neck, which is a neurological problem. This can be serious problem as dogs can become very painful and sometimes paralyzed if the disc ruptures. I recommend a veterinary exam and medication to reduce the neck inflammation and they will also probably give muscle relaxers to improve the head and neck movement. They may also recommend X-rays. In the meantime you should not use a collar as pulling on the neck may make this worse. I recommend using a harness for walks. Placing a hot compress on the neck and giving Plato a gentle neck and shoulder massage may reduce the muscle spasms and improve the head and neck movement. Poor Phoebe! Shaking like this is a common sign of pain in dogs, especially when there is no other obvious reason (such as fear or cold) for her to be doing this. Many dogs who have back pain due to a herniated disc or other problem act very much like this, so this would be my first suspicion based on your description. She could also be uncomfortable due to abdominal pain, or some other injury that is not visible from the outside. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam today if possible - he/she can do x-rays or other testing if needed to help determine the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

It could be abdominal pain as well as spinal pain. Sometimes spinal disease can have vague symptoms such as shivering or shaking. I would recommend that you have her checked over as there are some medications that will ease the pain immediately but it is essential to distinguish wether the symptoms described are related to a muscular condition,to osteoarthritis or to something more serious like an herniated disc in her spine. This last case is the worst scenario as it can worsen very quickly and determine paralysis. I hope you can have Ebby checked over ASAP and that it is nothing too serious.

Hi there. While it is not abnormal for Charlie to be lethargic and behave differently when everyone leaves-this is a bit much. I would recommend taking him in to your veterinarian in case something else is going on. Pancreatitis, intoxication, and a few other diseases can start with this presentation. Shivering in dogs is often a pain response (can also be nervousness, cold, etc). If these behaviors continue I recommend taking him in as soon as you can to try to prevent it from getting worse.
