Why is my dog shaking, not eating, and pain meds aren't helping?

Poor Puppy. She could have pain in stomach, back, hips, or neck. She sounds pretty painful, and unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give her. Many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I'd take her into a vet today.

Because she isn't eating or drinking, I'm recommending you take her into your vet right away. Not drinking can lead to dehydration, which may complicate any underlying condition(s). Your vet can determine what is causing these symptoms, and how best to treat it. Please take her into your vet today.

Poor baby. It sounds like he may have injured something. It is common for them to injure their back or neck and act this way. I would have your vet look st him today. Your vet will be able to localize the pain and give him the appropriate pain meds to help him feel better. If it is his lower back, you vet may also prescribe him a stool softener so it is easier for him to have a bowel movement. Your vet will also be able to do X-rays if needed. I do not recommend to give any human pain meds as most of these are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon!

Hmm. That is odd. With no other symptoms besides the shaking, it is hard to say for sure. Shaking can be a sign of pain, neurological or an acid/base imbalance. I would continue monitor him for the next 12 hrs to see if this behavior continues. If it does then the next best step is to get some baseline bloodwork to look for underlying issues. You can also feel around to see if Snickers is painful in any particular area. That can help the vet focus on that one area to look for underlying causes. At this age most dogs also have arthritis, so it is a good idea to get Snickers on a daily joint supplement regardless. This is very suspicious for a lesion in the spinal cord, such as a prolapsed disk or a sprain or other trauma or condition that impacts the nerves exiting the vertebrae, She may also be suffering from meningitis or encephalitis, as this can cause nausea and vomiting and stiffness of the neck. Please take Charlotte to a veterinarian or Pet ER now. Blood tests will need to be done and possibly x rays. This is obviously a painful condition, so she will definitely need pain medicine .

Poor Belle! It sounds like she is experiencing some pain and she could have a problem with her back or possibly abdominal pain. In order to diagnose, she needs to be examined by a vet to localize the source if the pain. She may need an anti-inflammatory and pain medications to help treat the problem. Hello. What an adorable picture of Beretta! Based on the description of her symptoms & that she is a dachshund, I would definitely want to eliminate any possibility that she may have some intervertebral disc disease. This is just so common in this breed. There are also some diseases/conditions that may not be apparent with routine bloodwork & additional testing may be necessary. Was your vet able to obtain a urine sample? A urinary tract infection can make a pet pretty miserable. I would want to see how she does on some pain medication, but x-rays may be helpful as possibly a change in antibiotics.
