Hello. The principal is the same for people. Use tape to try & remove any remaining embedded hairs. Then, gently wash the area with soap & water. Dry the skin with a hair dryer on low. Using isopropyl alcohol & ice packs can be very soothing or you can make a paste of baking soda & water. You can make a little bandage of this. If Todd still seems very uncomfortable, then you may need to see your veterinarian for additional treatments like a steroid injection. She needs to see a vet to determine the type of infection and which medications will treat it. I would also be concerned about possible bladder stones. She may need oral medications as opposed to topical formulas if the wound is deep enough. Antibiotics, antihistamines or even steroids are used for insect bites or stings. In the meantime, place an E-collar on her if she is pawing at her face at all. I hope this information helps!

For that reason, whenever there is a paw infection, it is recommended to proceed with a visit to your veterinarian.
