My dog scratched off a tick. What should I do about the leftover spot?

If it continues to look superficial (as it looks on the picture), you can consider applying a thin film of triple antibiotic on it in case it is just a mild infection. At least on this picture this looks very superficial and it is very likely that it will resolve on its own as long as the area is kept nice and clean. If you have noticed Dexter licking at it, an e-collar to prevent that would be ideal. Otherwise, this should continue getting better. Once the fleas have been treated, the area should heal by itself provided Bo does not continue to scratch or lick it. Keep the lesion clean and dry to prevent infection. If it has has not healed in five to seven days, or if you notice the lesion getting larger or oozing pus, you should have Bo checked out by a veterinarian for treatment.

Not all tick bites will cause disease, so just watch over the next 10 -14 days any signs of illness in Tobi. This would include lethargy, loss of appetite, reddened eyes. Take care.

The smell usually indicates skin infection, so ideally you should take Jaceky to your local vets to get a course of antibiotics. Alternatively, you can first clip the wounds from the hair and use antiseptic solution ( 4% chlorhexidine would be best) and clean it twice a day. Also, make sure that your dog doesn't lick or scratch the wounds. For ticks, the most effective treatments are spot-on skin solutions that you can buy over-the-counter at pet shops or online.

I would not recommend using any appointments or peroxide is that can cause worsening irritation. It will probably heal up just fine, but if you notice any swelling or discharge I recommend that does it to rule out infection or need for antibiotics.
