I found a tick on my dog this morning. He's on nexgard for flea and tick protection and actually just had a dose 4 days ago. The tick was tiny and I think it was dead so it hadn't been on there long (it definitely wasn't there last night), but there's a red spot the size of a dime where the tick was. Should I be concerned?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! poor Sirius!
Nexgard works by killing the tick after it attaches and ideally kills the tick before it can inject infectious organisms like Lyme. The redness is likely due to inflammation from removing the tick.
I think Sirius will be fine! I hope this helps and I wish you both the best!
