My dog scratched her nose. Will a minor scratch heal on its own?

Keep a close eye on it and if it does not improve in the next week or so, have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment though that is unlikely to be needed. Hi there! Good job cleaning with plain warm water- that is perfect! That wound is fairly superficial and will likely heal just fine on its own. If it's dirty, just a simple wipe with warm water should be sufficient. I generally recommend keeping scratches like that open to air, so no need to use neosporin. If you already put some on her and she licked it off, there should not be any problems though. If you notice any swelling or green discharge, it may be a sign of an infection and time to call your vet. You're very welcome! I hope you have a great day as well!

Any products you put on it might just cause a bacterial skin infection due to the moisture, or he will likely lick it off. Just leave it alone to heal on it's own. It might take a few weeks. This is a difficult place to put anything on, because it will just be licked off. From what I'm seeing in the picture, it is a very minor abrasion, so I would not be to worried about it getting any worse. For now, it's best to just keep the wound clean by wiping it with warm water occasionally. This should be completely healed within the next two weeks.

Ouch, poor Titch! I see what you mean about scratch on his nose, but this likely will not cause him to lose his sense of smell. It's simply a wound on the outer portion of his nose. I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

I would not recommend using any appointments or peroxide is that can cause worsening irritation. It will probably heal up just fine, but if you notice any swelling or discharge I recommend that does it to rule out infection or need for antibiotics.

It looks as if Ava has a scratch or abrasion of some sort. My best guess would be that she got it roughhousing with another dog at the dog park. Or, if you have noticed that she is itchy, she may have caused some self trauma by scratching too hard. You could try putting some triple antibiotic ointment on the area for a couple days and see if that helps it heal up. If it persists for more than a few days or if you noticed that Ava is very itchy, then I would recommend taking her to the vet to be checked out. I hope this helps.
