My dog is scooting, crying, and twitching. Could it be allergies?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My dog keeps rubbing his bum on the floor and has spasms and does not stop crying and rubbing his face as well as moving. I am unsure of what is wrong with him. Please help??

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! He may be having an allergic reaction or have allergies in general. This is likely causing him to be itchy. This is something that if confirmed, it may be treated with steroids and anti-histamine medications. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Best of luck!
