Why is my dog scooting and in pain? Does he need an emergency vet?

my dog is scooting on the floor i know he needs his glands squeezed he is a little yorkie and he acts like it hurts do i need to take hime to the er

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sometimes this goes away on its own after a few hours. However, if this does not improve, have Peanut evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment as anal sac expression may be indicated as this may be due to anal sac impaction or infection.
