My dog is scared and won't eat after a loud noise. What should I do?

I'm sorry to hear of your concerns with Luigi. It is unlikely that he is not eating much due to a lack of sleep. Dogs will often nap throughout the day. It is possible that he caught up on his sleep while you were out doing other things. If his appetite continues to be decreased or he seems lethargic, I would recommend having him seen by your veterinarian to ensure there is nothing else going on. Stress from loud noises can cause changes in behavior. If the neighborhood is quiet again and Luigi's behavior does not return to normal, it could be that he has an underlying medical condition.

If Lulu didn't throw up with the chicken I would say it's alright to mix some of the chicken in with her hard food. Have you tried adding a small amount of chicken broth to her food? That might entice her to eat her dry food again. If she likes that, it is alright to use a small amount of the broth with each meal just to add to the palatability. I hope this helps! It is possible that something may have startled your dog, or there could be something that is causing him to feel dizzy/nauseated, which is leading to looking at the ceiling and not wanting to eat. If the symptoms continue, a wellness check at the vet may help to rule out any health-related issues. Offering a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice may also help if the cause is nausea-related. If he is healthy, looking for causes such as strange lights, noises, or new things in that area may help alert you to a cause to his fear.

Try to encourage Luna to eat and you may try separating them at meal time until Luna relaxes. Exercising them both may also help. if Luna continues to not eat for another 24 hours or shows any signs of illness, have her examined by the veterinarian. However, it is very likely that she will normalize soon perhaps in a few days. One thing you can do is entice her appetite by adding things like pieces of chicken or beef to her food for a few days just to encourage her to eat. If there is no improvement in the next few days then have her examined by your veterinarian to ensure there is not a medical reason to explain this. Good luck!

Good on you for getting Shaggy's shots, but I'm sorry he isn't eating! You can see a drop in appetite after getting the vaccines, but it should return within 24-48 hours. I would try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts. If he refuses to eat this and still isn't eating tomorrow, then take him into the vet as this is abnormal. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. This could of course be due to him being afraid of getting attacked. You can try to feed him separately to try to avoid him getting bullied. If this continues despite that, I recommend that you have Mikey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
