Is it safe to use laundry products when my dog sleeps in my bed?

Hello Lipaz, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I definitely advocate for people using a more natural detergent not only for their pets but also for themselves/family. There are way too many chemicals in laundry detergent. Now, has there been any direct correlation between laundry detergent and illnesses in pets? No, but that doesn't mean there isn't any. There is a lot we don't know. I recommend either making your own laundry detergent (many recipes on YouTube and it is not difficult) or you can buy something like Seventh Generation. Thank you for contacting Pet Coach with your question about Sasha. I like Tide Simply Free and Sensitive Liquid Detergent. It contains no perfumes or dyes, but is good at getting dirt out. I think that would work well for her bed. I hope this helps!

Dryer sheets can be toxic if ingested, but are not terribly toxic when rubbed on the hair/skin. It may cause some irritation though and could cause some issues if licked, so it's best to just rinse him really well with water. After that, I would not worry about any problems occurring. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Axle. I recommend bathing his feet with Dawn dish soap. This should remove any residue from the dryer sheet. If he licked his feet or is not acting right, then I recommend following up with a veterinarian today. I hope this information helps!

If she seems like she is irritated in the mouth you can rinse it with water (turn her head sideways and stream water through sideways, so that you are not pouring water into her mouth that she could get into her airway). Otherwise just provide lots of fresh water for her to drink. Best of luck with Bella!

Most chemicals include warnings against breathing in the fumes, even inadvertently, as they typically recommend that they are only used in well-ventilated areas. If you can smell the fumes from these chemicals in your laundry room, it's likely that Timo is also breathing them in. Different chemicals can cause different toxicities, but most/all can cause some problems, particularly if they are inhaled on a regular basis. As long as you are certain that Timo could not have ingested or touched any of the chemicals, is eating, drinking and acting normally, without any coughing or breathing concerns, you shouldn't need to seek out emergency veterinary care at this time. (Obviously, if he is doing any of those things, emergency veterinary care is needed urgently!) Otherwise, be sure to remove these chemicals from the laundry room so that they are stored in an area where no one (Timo or a person) can breathe in these fumes.
