Are common household items like spoons safe for my dog to play with?

No do not make him vomit. The sharp pieces can do damage coming back up, as well as you can get esophageal irritation if you use hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. I recommend feeding moistened kibble to help surround the pieces so hopefully they will pass without causing a problem. This can be serious though so if there is discomfort, no poop, or not eating I recommend taking an X-ray tomorrow see where the pieces are in the intestinal tract. If Jose is not painful they can take a series of X-rays over time to see if the pieces are moving. If they get stuck in one place then surgical removal will be needed. Chewing on toys is a great activity for dogs to help them burn off energy, keep them occupied, and help keep them from chewing on other things in the house that are inappropriate for them to chew on. Dogs have individual preferences for the types of toys they chew on, so it may take a bit of experimenting to find out what Abby likes. Rope toys, soft toys and rubber chew toys are all good options. There are even puzzle toys where you can hide food and that will keep your pup busy trying to get the food out. Avoid any toys that are too hard- you should be able to easily dent the surface with a fingernail, as anything harder than that could lead to fracturing of the teeth. Avoid offering bones, antler, and similar objects for this reason. Always supervise play, and if you notice your dog trying to eat any pieces of the toys, take them away, as the pieces could cause a blockage of the intestines that could lead to the need for surgery to remove it.

Depending on the size of Koda and how big the piece of fork was that she ate, will determine if she will potentially have problems or not. She will most likely be fine. At this point, I would just monitor. What you will want to monitor Koda for are decreased appetite / activity, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting or abdominal pain. These symptoms would indicate a potential problem from ingesting the piece of fork. Problems would include an intestinal obstruction or some type of laceration / puncture to the intestines as it passes through the GI tract. Koda will most likely pass this in her stool. I would watch her bowel movements for the next 24-48 hours to ensure that it has passed. If she is completely normal in 48 hours still, I would bet that she will be ok! I hope this helps! Hello, actually wood is not the best for your dog. This can lead to splinters and foreign objects that I've seen end up in tracheas, esophagus, stomach, lungs, free floating in the chest or abdomen, or causing major injury to the oral cavity (teeth and gums). If you are going to give Donut a chew toy, I would recommend a Kong toy. You can find these online or at your local pet store. These are better for their teeth and durable. They tend to be cleaner, and are safe to throw in a dishwasher cycle now and then. I'd specifically avoid plastic. Hope that helps!

Some things can be harmful to pets (like onions, garlic, raisins, and grapes) and you don’t want Charlie to get into those things.
