My dog is suddenly restless and anxious after a storm. Why?

Not to state what seems obvious, but it sounds like Darwin has become sensitive/anxious about the wind, and likely can't calm down even though perhaps it has died down or stopped. Sudden changes in pressure and weather can be very disconcerting for some dogs. I am sorry to hear about Chewie. The storms and fireworks can definitely cause extreme anxiety in some pets. I would recommend discussing with your vet if there is a prescription medication they feel is appropriate for him knowing his medical history to see if this helps if the storms are still ongoing. Hi there and thank you for your post! Anxiety can defi itwly cause the excessive panting. Storm anxiety and a warm ambient temperature can definitely lead to the panting you are seeing. As long as he hasn't had any respiratory distress recently and that this started just when the thunderstorm hit, he should be ok to monitor at home. Reassuring him and turning down the temperature in the house may help. I would look into some things to help with anxiety such as adaption collar and diffuser. If the anxiety is getting bad enough, I would consult with your vet and see about anti anxiety medications as an option for goalie. I hope this helps Out! I recommend thinking about what changes have happened in the last couple of days. Have you moved any furniture, replaced lightbulbs, or plugged in any new appliances? This is highly suspicious of a toxin ingestion, especially if this behavior started all of a sudden. Please take your pet to your local vet right away to have him thoroughly checked. He likely ingested something that is affecting his nervous system. If he is a typical anxious dog, then another explanation here is that he got spooked by something. You can ask your vet for some suggestions to treat his anxiety. Medication + behavioral modification training with a certified animal behaviorist are the best options for treating anxiety in pets. Poor baby. I'd recommend checking him all over for anything that hurts, or looks funny. In addition, if you know anyone that does analysis gland expressions, full analysis glands can make a pet act very anxious. They have to be trained to know how to do it, so most likely you will need to contact your veterinarian in the morning. You could also contact your local pet ER and have him seen tonight if he is acting that off.
