Found dog has red eyes, hard breathing, and a tummy lump. What to do?

As long as it is not bothering Taz, it is not bleeding and it is not increasing in size, you should monitor it at home. The left eye looks sore indeed. It could be caused by eye infection, allergic reaction, trauma to the eye, corneal scratch and more. Please, take Taz to your local vets for an appointment. Full ophthalmic examination should allow making the diagnosis and adequate treatment can be started. Also, your vet will be able to examine the lump to confirm that there is nothing to worry about.

Poor Canela! I'm afraid these things all together don't really add up to any particular illness. Difficulty breathing can be caused by lots of different things including heart disease, collapsing trachea, bronchitis, a respiratory infection, or even some type of cancer. Squinting is often a sign of eye pain caused by conjunctivitis, glaucoma, or some other eye problem. The lump on her side could be a benign skin growth, or a malignant tumor - I'm afraid there's no way to know just by looking. I would recommend taking Canela to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to. He/she can check each of these issues and may recommend blood work, chest x-rays, or other diagnostic testing to help determine what's wrong and see what kind of treatment is needed.

Dogs don't have collarbones (clavicles) like humans have. This allows them longer stride. If he had a fracture across a growth plate as a pup, this could certainly have affected him. You may see lameness or a limb growing crooked. An exam with your veterinarian or a veterinary orthopedic specialist would diagnose the issue. X-rays may be indicated. Treatment would depend on the diagnosis. The red eyes and breathing could have an allergic component, but you would need a physical exam for confirmation. Discuss allergy testing, hydrolyzed diets, food elimination trials and antihistamine use with your veterinarian. A respiratory infection or an inflammatory condition, such as asthma, would also need to be ruled out.

Poor girl. She could have congestive heart disease, cancer, cushings disease or any kind of organ enlargement in her belly. I would recommend starting with a good vet exam and then possible radiographs and bloodwork to get her checked out and hopefully find the underlying cause for her symptoms. How does a vet have no equipment to examine the dog? If that vet did not know what is going after looking at the dog I'm not sure how much I can tell you over the internet without looking at the dog. The most I can tell you is that at 14 years old this is likely cancer and you are not going to be able to fix it. I suggest you take him to another vet that does have equipment so you can try to get a diagnosis. A biopsy of the tumors are needed. If it is cancer it may have spread to his lungs and that is why is not able to breathe well. If you cannot afford to do all the testing to figure out what is happening then you may need to make the decision to euthanize him as it sounds like he is suffering and in pain. Please take him to another vet to get this sorted out.

i am afraid these could be benign or malignant tumors. Since Nealy is an older dog, this is not uncommon. Lipomas (fatty tumors, usually benign, they can actually be hard) or mast cell tumors come to mind when looking at your photos. It could also be a very extreme allergic reaction to possibly a shampoo at the groomers. 1) do not panic 2) make an appointment with your veterinarian for an exam. He will likely want to take a so-called FNA (Fine Needle Biopsy) where he takes a small amount of tissue through an injection needle, puts this on a glass plate and looks at it under the microscope. This will give your vet an idea what he is dealing with. He may also send this material to a lab to be examined. Once you and dyour veterinarian know what type of mass you are dealing with , you can discuss treatment plans.

I am very sorry to hear that you are having these concerning issues with Mambo. From the clinical signs you are describing; distended abodmen, coughing, changes to breathing patterns and lethargy I would be concerned about a potential heart condition. Heart disease can cause the heart to stop pumping blood around the body effectively. This then causes fluids to accumulate in the tissues such as the lungs and the abdomen. This could explain the bloated abdomen and the coughing. I would advise taking Mambo into the veterinarian as soon as you can. Fluid on the lungs can be a life threatening emergency. A veterinarian would be able to listen to Mambo's heart and lunch sounds during an examination and tell you if there is fluid build-up or a heart problem.
