What to do for my new senior dog's belly lump and red, blinking eye?

Hello. That looks like a small growth/tumor that originated in a tear-producing gland. Without an actual biopsy, we cannot say the exact type or if it is benign/malignant. However, the majority are Meibomian Gland Adenomas and typically are benign. They can bleed, cause inflammation or infection and, if large enough, can irritate or even scratch the cornea. Without a physical exam, it is difficult to determine exactly what is wrong with him. The red eyes may indicate infection or inflammation, the elbows may be calloused from laying on rough surfaces, the breathing may be a respiratory issue or it could be cardiac in nature. The tumor may be just that, whether it is benign or malignant is unknowable without diagnostics. If you plan on keeping him, consider a visit to the local veterinary clinic or humane society where he could get an exam to diagnose his issues. Any treatment will depend on these diagnoses.

There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. Hi and thank you for posting your question! From the picture, it looks like a skin tag which can grow over time and become larger. Usually these are not anything to worry too much about, although if it starts to become larger, red, swollen, or infected, you may want to have your veterinarian take a closer look. You can always have the mass aspirated and a sample sample taken from it to see if it is anything concerning. That is the only way to really definitively diagnosis any mass. Without a picture or examining Laila it's difficult to say what is going on for sure. Dogs can get small tumors on their eyelids called meibomian gland tumors and normally these are benign. However, I'm a little concerned that it has gotten larger overnight. It could also be an area of infection or a more serious tumor type. If you can post a picture of Laila it may be helpful to give you further advice. If not, it would be best to err on the side of caution and have Laila examined by your veterinarian. Unfortunately eye drops won't help with cherry eye. Most cases will need surgery to tack the gland back into place. Dogs can get mammary (breast) cancer, and it is more common in unspayed female dogs. A vet will do an examination and may take a small sample of cells to be examined under a microscope. It is not uncommon for older dogs to get benign growths on their eyelids. Usually these do not cause much problem. If it continues to grow and his eye is red or has more discharge than normal then I would take him in for an exam.
