My dog has a red eye spot from playing. Should I take him to vet?

This is a very abnormal looking eye and it appears that your dog has some serious issues with the cornea. The cornea is very cloudy and hazy and the pink lesion looks like a large ulcer on the cornea. This eye is likely chronically dry and lacking in tear production. This eye looks like it is in imminent danger of rupturing. I would recommend that you take your pet to the closest emergency clinic if you are unable to get help from a regular daytime vet right away. Your pet should be seen immediately and it is not a good idea to wait for 7 days. Your pet will likely need multiple prescription eye medications and possibly surgery in order to repair the defect. Please do not try to treat this without a proper diagnosis and proper medication.

It seems like your dog has a corneal ulceration, which requires an immediate check up and treatment. The check up is essential to be able to determine the depth of the ulceration and decide appropriate treatment. Eye drops versus surgery are the two treatment options. Without doing an exam and looking at the eye, it is hard to say what is going on with Spots' eye. If he starts squinting, that is a sign of pain. It's possible there is a wound near the eye that is causing blood to accumulate in the eye. He also could have an ulcer, foreign material in the eye, or even inflammation of the 3rd eyelid. I would recommend you take Spots in to see your vet to see if he needs medication for his eye.

I would take Mike in to the vet today have his eye checked. It's very important to have any eye condition examined and treated right away, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. His eye should be stained with fluorescein just to make sure there wasn't any damage done to his corner when he was accidentally hit in the eye. If there was damage done, the vet can prescribe a treatment for it.

I am so sorry that Tasha has hurt her eye. I am concerned that she has injured her eye and that it could get worse if not properly treated. Watch Egie for any signs that the eye itself was injured such as squinting, redness to the sclera or excessive tearing. As long as the injury is only on the skin, your pup can probably heal on his own. If the eye itself is injured, havehim examined quickly. Have him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Until the wound is healed, no more play dates. I am not familiar with Leucillin but as long as it is safe for the eyes, you can apply the ointment for the next 1- 2 days then stop. I hope this helps.
