Why is my dog's eye red? He's pawing it, whimpering, and not eating.

Poor Blue! It sounds like he has an eye infection. It's important to have any eye infection examined and treated promptly, as untreated eye infections can lead to vision loss. I would take him into a vet now for an exam. The vet can confirm the eye infection, and can give him an antibiotic eye ointment to treat it.

It does appear that this is more a problem with the skin around the eyes rather than the eye itself. This is commonly seen with demodex (https://mobile.petcoach.co/amp/article/demodectic-mange) infestations in juvenile dogs. It is less common with older dogs and is more of a concern with older dogs. In a puppy, these infestations will resolve on their own after a couple of months. Some require treatment with an antiparasitic. If Bear is an adult, then he will need treatment. It's also possible that this is infected by yeast or bacteria, so it's best to have a vet evaluate him to make a diagnosis. For now, it's good to flush the area with saline for 1-2 minutes three times a day. If it is getting worse, then he probably needs professional treatment to keep it from getting too bad. Poor guy. Your pet Creed likely has an eye infection, which is commonly caused by a scratch on the cornea. I would recommend taking him to a vet soon to have this tested and treated with prescription eye ointment. You can do a salt water warm compress on the outside lid for 5 mins or so for tonight and then try and see if any places are open tomorrow for care. If not, then I would consider taking Creed to an after hours clinic or ER to get this addressed quickly so that there is further damage to the cornea. I hate to hear that Bear is having this issue. The sores aren’t likely there from licking but certainly the licking doesn’t help anything. Trauma from rubbing the nose, ringworm (which humans can get) and less likely, an autoimmune condition can all look like this. It looks pretty wide spread on his nose and I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian to test for make sure there’s no sign of an autoimmune disease. Without doing an exam and looking at the eye, it is hard to say what is going on with Spots' eye. If he starts squinting, that is a sign of pain. It's possible there is a wound near the eye that is causing blood to accumulate in the eye. He also could have an ulcer, foreign material in the eye, or even inflammation of the 3rd eyelid. I would recommend you take Spots in to see your vet to see if he needs medication for his eye.
