My dog's rear legs are paralyzed 3 days after surgery. Is this normal?

Oh dear! This is a very serious problem - I'm afraid she really has to see a vet right away. She may have a herniated disc in her back causing the paralysis, or some other neurologic problem affecting her spinal cord. She may be in pain, or she may have no feeling at all in her rear legs - it's impossible to say without an exam. She needs immediate treatment to have a reasonable chance of regaining function in her rear legs, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do at home that will help her. I am sorry to hear that. It sounds like she may be painful. Call your and see about getting her in for a recheck exam. If there is an emergency vet near you, I would recommend that you take her in to be seen. Unfortunately without seeing her and without knowing if she's received any medications at home, I cannot advise you to give her anything at home to help, she just needs to be seen by a vet. Hi. She needs to be seen right away. Her stance in the photos is very concerning. I recommend getting her to the ER and they will do an exam and assess if she is paralyzed or not. They can provide pain relief as well, which is the most important thing here.

I'm afraid this is an extremely serious problem - Dachshunds are very prone to herniated discs in their spine which can cause rear leg paralysis, so I would be very concerned that this could be the problem. He could also have been injured somehow, or could have a neurologic disease of some kind causing him to not be able to use his legs. Bleeding from the rectum coukd be due to internal injuries or a serious illness of some kind. This sounds like a serious, life-threatening problem, so I would recommend taking your dog to an emergency vet immediately. He/she can do x-rays, blood work, or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what can be done to treat it.

Poor Turbena! I'm afraid this is very concerning. Loss of function in the rear legs is most often due to a "slipped" or herniated disc in the spine, but could also be due to some other neurologic problem or illness. This problem needs immediate treatment for the best chance of recovery, so I would recommend taking Turbena to the vet now. He/she can do a complete neurologic exam as well as x-rays or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment right away.
