My dog's back legs are dead weight after injury. Is she paralyzed?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 80 lbs

My dog recently got banged and can't afford going to a vet, but i was wondering if she should be put down or leave her to heal. She is able to move her head and front legs but the back is just dead weight. Also, how will I know if she is paralyzed?

Hi. She needs to be seen right away. Her stance in the photos is very concerning. I recommend getting her to the ER and they will do an exam and assess if she is paralyzed or not. They can provide pain relief as well, which is the most important thing here.
